An Ethereal Portrait

The studio shoot on this day focused on creating an ethereal portrait, but how I hear you ask (be honest you all asked but how!!)

Well good question!

Using high-key lighting with strong blue and pink tones combined with precisely positioned strobes and softboxes. The gels cast soft, surreal hues that enveloped the subject in a dreamlike atmosphere, while the strobes provided sharp, directional highlights to accentuate facial features and textures. Softboxes were strategically placed to diffuse light gently, ensuring a smooth gradient of shadows and preventing harsh contrasts. This careful orchestration of lighting elements resulted in a delicate interplay of colour and form, capturing a portrait that feels both otherworldly and intimately authentic.

so this was the colour version, you can see that I wanted to control the different gradients on the subject, the overall aesthetic is then very ethereal and futuristic, with the bright backlighting creating a glowing halo effect around her silhouette.

The end result, a wonderful image

The colour to get to the ethereal end result

probably my favourite from the shoot
